I got out on the water for the first time since July 23rd.. been out of town! The lake is down about 4' from the last time I was out.. but not much below normal pool looks to me. I started around 7:30 with a pretty good wind out of the north working.. caught a few dinks on the first point I tried. I moved on to some deep water spots and saw very little activity on the graph.. Long story short.. the drop shot caught little ones, except for a big old Drum!.. that bad boy was probably 5 or 6lbs and put up a pretty good fight! It hit a Yammamoto shad shaped worm, nose hooked in about 20' of water.
I got tired of drop shotting, so I went looking for some new water I could deep crank. I found a creek whip back point that I had never fished before.. creek was about 25' in the channel.. shallow part was about 16'. I was cranking a 6XD, from the shallow spot casting out in to the channel.. and I started catching sand bass! There was no way those fish could have gotten that bait in their mouth.. but they were keeper sand bass! I released the first 4, then thought.. dang these would eat pretty good.. so.. when I caught the 5th one I put it in the live well.. and didn't catch another one! frustrating!

I have no clue where the LM are.. but it was a great day on the water..

I was on it Saturday. Caught 20-22 fish. Average was around 3-1/2 to 4 pounds. All flipping shallow trees. Most fish came around 2-3 ft.

I did, however, catch 5 on a shaky head that were all slots. In trees around 16-18 ft. These all came from the three creek channels along the West Bank of the east leg of the lake. All the flipping bites came from the west side of the west leg.

Eat. Sleep. Fish.
