Went out today from 7-11am to see how the fish were biting today at Lake Raven. First thing I noticed was that the lake was down 3-4ft, maybe more, due to some type of work being done near the damn area. The entire shoreline vegetation and laydowns were entirely exposed. I immediately thought about getting right back truck and going to Conroe. This lake is always tough to fish for me, and given there is very little offshore structure to fish anyway, I knew today would be tough. Worked the north end on down and managed one fish near a tree laydown on a dropshot near 9am, and didn't get anything else until 10am on the south end when I caught another on a jig near one of the few laydowns that still touched the water. Figured what I really needed was cover, so I went to the fishing pier on the south arm and caught a decent one pulling the jig through the fishing pier pilings. Only three total, better than none, and better than some days when I've been here and the water level was normal.

I went to Raven today and should have turned around to go somewhere else. I guess the powers-to-be are playing with the dam again. I see some heavy equipment and new dirt over there. The lake is lower than I have ever seen it. It's probably at least 4 feet low. I didn't graph a blade of anything. Nothing but black, nasty algae. I didn't get a bite.

Be safe,
Rayzor

They sprayed a while back to kill of the hyacinth. So it's going to be a while before any grass comes back.
