Dang gone it jbobo. I was kidding about all them horse power. All we need is a reliable gas saver kind of truck if you've got one to pull my tiny little boat. If we going on yours than that's a different story. Them fish over in Arkansas do not want their bait dead sticking. Soons the sun comes up high and bright they want it jigged like it is summer.

It's not a fish finder lol!! It's a depth finder/sonar/gps/Lake map bottom contour machine. Once you have that awesome tool then you can go find the fish.

Humminbird is very user friendly. Got nothing bad to say about Humminbird except I dislike their down scan. They got excellent customer service. If your unit is broken they can fix it and get it back to you ASAP. You get what you pay for. I would go with any unit that's capable of excepting a lake chip/gps and bigger screen. I got the Humminbird 1199 reason bigger screen but are discontinued now. I think the Helix is taking their place.

I also like to own a Lowrance one day so that I can have the best of both world. Me personally I think Lowrance got better down scan. As for 2D I can't tell the different. Same on Lowrance units. Lake map chip with gps is a must.

Once you have your unit it's important that you learn how to adjust its settings and know what you are looking at on the screen to be able to differentiate what's fish and what's not. That's when you need to hook up with some people that can show you and paying attention what fish looks like on the screen when you are catching. After that finding fish just comes natural if you invest the time and being persistent.
