I read an online review of this book last week and saw two copies for sale on Amazon. However, I was out of town this weekend and when I got home Monday night both copies had been sold. I see on the publisher's website that the book is out of print and I haven't had any luck through Google in finding the Fourth Edition (I have found the third edition, but am not interested in that since the fourth edition is apparently quite a bit different). Was hoping maybe someone had a copy they would be willing to sell or knew of a shop with a copy still on the shelves. Thanks.

You may be able to buy one at the Expo in Grapevine this weekend. The author often attends events like this.

If all else fails, the author, Kevin Hutchins (not sure of spelling), guides in the Austin area. Google him and contact him to find a copy.

I bought a copy direct from him when it came out.

Good luck!

I was in Gruene Outfitters (Gruene/ New Braunfels) a few weeks ago and saw a few of them in the store. If you go to fly shop in the back of the store you might find them there. Call the store and ask for Chris Adams or one of the guys that works in the fly fishing section!

Thanks for all the information. If I can't find a copy at the expo tomorrow I will give Gruene Outfitters a call. I plan on heading down to Austin/Hill Country area a few times this fall to check some fish off my bucket list (Guadalupe bass, Smallmouth bass and Rio Grande Cichlid) and I figured in addition to the great knowledge on this forum, the book would be a big help.

Kevin is at the Expo. The book is at the printers for more copies. He expects it to sell out quickly (a lot of unexpected large orders from various fly shops). If you'll send him an email he will save you a copy when they are ready.

Quick update. I talked to Kevin at the Expo and he gave me a lead that ended up working out. The book was delivered yesterday and it is awesome. Also, saw Kevin's seminar on fishing the hill country and it was really informative. Thanks Kevin!

Glad your quest for the Holy Grail of the Hill Country was a success!

I love a good quest.

Would this "lead" happen to have any more copies available?

I used to tie flys with Kevin back in the early 2000s. Some of the most successful flys I use I learned to tie from him. I remember him saying that he got permission to update the book. I managed to get a copy a few years ago and have read it several times. Now that I'm in DFW I wish there was something like it for this area.

I used to sell these on my site. I wonder how different the new edition is from the last edition? Anybody know?
