Cabela's is having a big sale on anything with the Cabela's brand. (extra 20% off on Cabela's brand item) Understand Bass Pro is buying them, are they going to sell off the brand? I sure hope not.

Since it is Cabela's brand, they have more "flexibility" in their pricing. They can offer a bigger discount and still make the same profit. Appears to be a big sale when it actually does not hurt Cabela's bottom line much.

Appears that Bass Pro Shops and Goldman Sachs will close a deal in a matter of days. Cabela's stock rose 2.7% today on the news of a pending sale. Cabela family members still own 24% stake which could be an obstacle, but everything seems to be a go at this point.

They should replace all Redhead clothing/shoes with Cabellas! The Guidewear lineup from Cabela's is very good. Now that it's "on sale" at reasonable prices; I can justify buying some.

As far as I'm concerned, all of the store brand stuff can go away. I havn't found any of it that wasn't cheap Chinese junk and in many cases, costs more than brand name items. I bought one Bass Pro item and will never buy another one.

The Bass Pro branded reels are very good and not made in China (the super cheap ones may be an exception) And once broken down you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference from Abu Garcia or Lew's.

For the most part, Cabelas clothing is pretty good stuff. I got some Cabelas Archnid reels (Daiwa made and upgraded version of Tatula R) regular 179 for $88 each. I'm going back today to see what I may have missed the other night.
