Is there a total for the number of fish dead. Ridiculous line for weigh-in. 80 teams didn't even weigh their fish in, as advised. Wonder how many of them died.

Buddy and his son had a heavy sack but had boat power issues and didn't make weigh in.

According to the posted results, 28 fish were brought to the scales dead. This time of year, you can figure another 20%-30% of those weighed died after being released.

I had 3 fish alone that I guaranteed dies after weigh in, they barely twitched to avoid the penalty. All 3 were in perfect health when entering the weight in and I was only about 25 deep in line. So yes I imagine very large total fatality rate.

Stepdad finished in 12th. Stood in line an hour and lost a fish. Cost him a 7th place finish. Terrible!

I stood in line from 2:53 to 4:12.....but our fish stayed in the live-well until we got up to the oxygen tanks as we were instructed. All 5 of our fish were very lively

Sounds like next year they just need to plan better and have flights and stagger it enough to where there's not a giant fish kill. Those that are saying they didn't expect such a great turnout they had 165 boats last year so they should've been prepared for at least that again. We just had a 96 boat tournament with a offsite weigh in 10 - 30 mins from the lake based on where they launched and once we started seeing our turnout would be bigger than expected we adapted on the fly and implemtented flighted starts to avoid a congestion at the scales and make sure our fish survived the weigh in and returned healthy to the lake which we also had a bass master classic weigh in pulling each boat to the stage and only took an hour and a half from
Start to finish.

Very happy to hear their turnout was amazing and able to raise so much for the Shriners Children's hospital but afraid the fish kill is making it a black eye on the event hope the organizers learned from this and plan accordingly for next year. Overall it's the Anglers that are in charge of keeping the fish healthy and sustain the fishery thou pleased to hear some took it upon themselves to make multiple trips to the lake refreshing their bag water or keeping fish in Livewell's until almost weigh in.

Also posted on the other Mad Dog Thread:
When we joined in line, we immediately got proactive and grabbed an empty tea jug from the food line and filled the weigh bag most of the way up. Took about 4 trips to the boat and lake but we got-r-done. All our fish were alive when weighed in. We probably had ~ 10 gallons of water in the bag. One fish was struggling 10 minutes into the wait in line but the added water had the fish swimming when we hit the scales. The fish were knocking the basket around on the scale.
I am sure they will have a better process in place next year.
