What do I need to have filled out from the other individual at the time of me purchasing their boat? I've never bought a used boat before.
TPWD papers?
Tax office?
Titles (3 of them correct)?

The boat and motor will have titles in the sellers name which you must have him sign. You will take these to the TPWD and initiate the transfer. The trailer most likely will not have a title, only registration which you handle at the tax office. Do not buy a boat and motor that the seller does not have clear title to. It will save you a lot of problems. http://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/boat/owner/buying_and_selling/index.phtml

All forms are on line now. Another option is to drop by your favorite boat dealer and pick up the forms. TPWD has their paper work on line also. Depending on how old the boat is there may not be a title for the trailer. Just make sure you get the registration from him when he purchased the last tags for the plates. He should also have the registration card. You will want that card to fish out of it until all numbers and plates come in. Make sure he signs over the titles on the back and has signed the front which he should have done when he received the titles.
You will probably go down to TPWD to get your boat # and register it. At that time you will pay the taxes to them on the purchase price. Make sure the trailer is registered so you do not have to have it inspected every year. This has to do with the weight capacity. Make sure it falls under the limit which is easy to get changed when you go down to pick up the plates.

i live close to a TPW office, so when I was buying mine I just went there & they gave me all the paperwork I needed & even highlighted the areas in yellow that I needed to fill out & highlighted in orange the areas the other party needed to fill out/sign. Very easy !

Along with items stated above, get a bill of sale. Have the sales price broken into the three items, boat motor and trailer. Three different registrations so they need to have the price of each not just a total for all three. It's a simple process

It's a simple process When I did it, everything you'll need was in the paperwork you get from TPW, the seller can fill in how the total amount paid is broken down.. For example, if you paid 3,000.00 total, you can break it down on the paperwork as 1,000.00 for the boat, 1000.00 for the motor & 1000.00 for the trailer.

Well, the boat turned out to have a past that I was scared of. No purchase this time.
