You don't have to spend a ton of money. I've caught a lot of big fish on the Storm Swim Shad they sell for $3.50 at Academy. And they last forever. These,..^^^^

I use a Swimbait anywhere I would use a spinnerbait. I have found they are best in light or no wind situations in less than 10 ft. of water. Water clarity has to be at least 2-1/2 ft. for them to be effective. They are more subtle than a spinnerbait and work very well in high pressured waters. The 2 brands I use the most are Luck-E-Strike Bass Magic and Strike King Shadalicious in the 4.5 and 5.5 sizes. My three favorite colors are the BLUE BACK HERRING, AYU and BABY BASS. I mainly fish them on a Luck-E-Strike Swimbait hook. I push the hook thru the Swimbait and skin hook it. I also slightly bend open the hook to help with the hook up ratio. Weight used is relative to how deep I want to fish them. Usually 1/4 for 4.5 and 3/8oz for 5.5. If I want to fish it very deep (greater than 10 ft.) I will hook them on a 1/2 to 3/4 oz. under spin jig head.
John K Fontenot Diapers and Politicians need to be changed often; and for the same reason.

Im doing some testing on a new one i just started painting, I'm happy with the action of the bait and the blue cats really like it too. Had a 7-8lb blue cat come out of the water when he hit it and give me a really nice fight, I was a little let down when i got it to the boat and realized it wasnt a bass. Next trip maybe I can catch a bass!
