I have heard that the grass is gone at Gilmer Lake (sprayed or early season flooding) and that fishing is tougher there. Any of you guys catching any quality fish there now and what seems to be the ticket? Are the fish on points, drops and channel swings? Where can I find 'em?

I was there the weekend before last. Fishing was tough. We caught five (smallest around a pound and largest just over four) fish in six hours of fishing. There is some grass on the west side of the lake near the big point but it has got a thick layer of brown sediment and surrounded by that black snot (that's what I call it) grass or whatever is is. That was the only grass we found. Caught our fish in the little "cove" to the south of the spillway and the dam. Caught our fish pretty shallow (1-8 feet) on Rattlesnakes and black lizards.

Once the sun got high, the bites pretty much stopped.
