Night fish? Dusk or in the middle of the night with flashlights or what?

I've never really fished at night, but would like to try it, therefore, details please.

You can fish in complete darkness with a head lamp. Fish your regular spots with the same lures and colors you normally use in day time. I've read that moon phase, dark colors, lures that make alot of noise all make a difference at night but none of those factors have made a difference in my experience. Some of my biggest fish have been caught at night.

What CKcrew said. I fish same spots with a headlamp. Bring OFF lol and I tend to fish darker lures. Love a black/blue chatterbait at night. BTW, my "night" is usually 10pm-2am timeframe. Also make sure it's not against the rules of the pond, as many ponds in my area close at dusk

My brother has been fishing with a top water frog and says he is having trouble with hookset. He said he has given the bass a split second to take it before he sets but still has trouble. I don't use frogs often so I am not much help. Anyone else have this issue or know a solution?

Try taking some pliars and very slightly bend the hooks outward a bit more and if it has the stringy rubber legs trim them a but shorter. I bet you can find a you tube video that will show what I'm talking about too. Weight until you feel the weight of the fish to set the hook. May take just a bit more time than your brother is waiting. Again search on you tube and you'll find some great info.

+1 on that 10 pm-2 AM time frame. That's what i call "deep nighting", and in summer catch huge bluegills and sunfish during those monthly spawns in summer, Big bass raiding the beds of the 'gills, and in fall and winter big crappie on lighted jig/bobber.

Congrats on the catch. I've never even tried using a frog. Did you get a pretty good look at the fish as it hit? I imagine that would be a rush.

@jsinn01 didn't see it, and to be honest, it probably helped me land it. I'm notorious for early hooksets. Didn't hear this one, I felt him load up my rod. Damn near pulled it outta my hand lol
