More info on replacement maybe , have never been able to repair the system to last more than couple of years .

Your trimming up to far. Don't trim completely up the whole way stop just short. Yamaha has a bad design and when trimming completely up it breaks the pawl on the trim. It usually takes awhile to happen but if you get used to stopping just short it won't happen again. Any dealer can repair it as its very simple.
