Currently I have two Interstate batteries, group 27, cranking amps 750, Reserve 160. My question is.....can I put a battery from a group 29 with the 27 or should I keep them the same? How about cranking amps, keep them the same or can I get one with higher cranking amps? Same question with reserve capacity? Also a completely different battery, like one from Sam's or Wal-Mart or academy, would that be ok to put with the interstate battery to get my 24 volts? As is obvious, I know nothing about batteries so any and all input will be greatly appreciated.

Won't hurt to mix them. Keeping them the same will help with even draw of amps from the batteries. However, if one battery is weaker than another, which happens after some use, then draw from the batteries will be uneven anyway. There's some good info on the net about charging batteries and how deep cycle batteries need to be maintained. Here's one source that makes chargers that has good info about batteries. http://www.dualpro.com/

sams club sell marine batteries in energizer brand, group 29. im on my 3rd year with them, but hadnt used them too much the last 2 years. havent ever had to add electrolite to them, either. batteries are wierd, a cold snap can kill them, a hot snap can kill them, non use can kill them, maybe some day they will be alot better, but for boats, they havent changed much over the decades.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
