Just an update the Skeeter Trailer was recovered yesterday in a small storage unit behind the Country Market on Hwy 90. Boat is gone most likely re-trailered or in Mexico. Please keep a lookout for anyone selling Electronics, Talons or quality fishing gear if your at Lake Amistad.

I am sorry to hear that. It could happen anywhere. Since it's down on the border and the trailer has been recovered, your friend will probably never see the boat again.

Lions Club Boat Storage in Del Rio by the Park Service Headquarters was broke into also. Did not steal any boats but rods reels and any thing else they could carry. All fisherman need to keep there eyes open and anything that does not look right call the sheriffs department

This was sent to me this morning from a friend in the know.

There has been a rash of thefts from boat storage sheds in the Lake Amistad area over the last 6 weeks. Dozens of units have been hit and more reports are being filed daily. The thieves are targeting bass tackle, rods, electronics and any thing else they can transport. Also stolen was a skeeter bass boat (the trailer was recovered and it's presumed the boat is in Mexico).

A number of guys who fish tourneys have lost everything. While insurance will help a lot of guys out, some will be out of their gear. Please keep your eye out for stuff on craigslist, ebay and the various fishing forums. There has been an arrest in the case but authorities don't think he's the main thief. State and Federal authorities are working the case. If you have any information about the thefts, please contact Sgt. Ryan Lowe with the Val Verde County Sheriffs Office at 8307747513.

I have got to the point that I don't even keep the doors open to my storage unit there while I'm inside the unit working on gear etc....good advice for anyone! You never know who is in the bushes eyeing your stuff?

I thought all storage places in the past 10 years had cameras all over the place.
