Why does the HDS7 cost so much more than the Elite 7? I have two HDS7's and just got a new Elite 7 combo. The Elite has down scan, but no SI. So, is side imaging the reason for the cost difference?

The reason for the cost difference is because the HDS units have more capabilities. Such as SI, linking abilities etc. I started with the Elite Series and they are Great but I wanted the SI to be able to search and find the smaller details in the bottom structure and find existing brush and cover so I went to the HDS. But the HDS has to have the structure scan and the LSS-1 or LSS-2 transducer unless it's a Gen. 3. I hope this helps.

2 year warranty on the hds line, 1 year on the elite. Hds hold more wypts & trails. Hds can share sonar, mapping, full wypt management and other junk that I've forgotten. Hds can use Ethernet and nmea, elite only has nmea network. Hds gen2 touch require no lss box. Hds gen3 don't have to have a lss box and give you chirp sonar & wifi.

But they all cost too much.

HDS series is very expandable
