Was wondering if anybody has had any luck fishing at Lake Lavon Dam. I'm using fresh cut Shad on a Carolina Rig and my past 2 trips I haven't gotten as much as a nibble. Any advice??

Its because theres no running water. If they were releasing the gates , you wont get nibbles. Youd be catching them. If its a nibble down size your baits and hooks.
fishing is one thing. catching is another

They release when the lake gets high. Until we get a bunch of rain no gates will be open so no fish.

And generally with the catfish, the more water, the better. Most fish I saw caught in spring were with 8-12 gates open

The flowing water from the dam works like a dinner bell for all species of fish. First it brings in a bunch of shad, then the white bass, hybrids, crappie, catfish, buffalo, gar, etc. When the water stops, gar and other rough fish stick around, but the bigger game fish scatter. When the gates are open, some fish will come through.
