I recently installed a used motorguide X3 and the shaft has some play in it( when it's in the water)I've tightened the shaft collar but that doesn't seem to help. I'm thinking it's something in the head or upper shaft. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

it's in the head. might can tighten it up, but probably needs a new bottom pan for the head. it's covered by warranty. i'm on my third one though. seems to be a design flaw. i had a motor guide before i bought this one for 5 yrs with out a problem like this.

did you have to send it in to motorguide to be worked on each time?
