And we can move this off to PM's if you want. I just to talk to folks that have experience with one of these things. I have the Go Pro Silver 4, a 64 gig SD card, 3 batteries & charger, goose neck mount with clamp. My purpose is to get ALL the good footage I can from a 3-1/2 day trip to El Salto.

Thanks for any advice

There should be a setting to record in 5-20 minute loops. Then when you catch a fish you hit the shutter button and it saves the last 5-20 minutes. I'm not sure the effect on battery, but it'll save space on your card.

Depending on what type of angles you want the chesty is a cool POV. I have one of these as well and it gives you a nice perspective since you can see more of the area and how the boat is positioned.

They make a non charging version that is about half the price. If you decide to get the version that charges keep in mind you'll need a skeleton case to be able to access the USB port.

I've got it set @ 5 min loops. Just want to make sure if we catch A LOT of fish, that I won't run out of storage.

The chesty mount is really nice and the ActionHat is nice. It is much more comfortable than the headstrap mounts, which tend to give me a headache every time I wear them. Not sure where you are located, but you can get the ActionHats at Mariner Pro Sails here in Dallas. I use the chest mount most of the time but when kayak fishing the ActionHat is the way to go.

You'll never complain about having too many batteries or SD cards, so if you're worried about running out of space or battery just grab a few more. I know they aren't terribly expensive. Chesty mount gets good fishing footage. Also, you can either buy a tripod, or you can rig a mount out of a broomstick like I did to kind of get a tower going in the boat. A lot of the popular fishing Youtubers do this with a tripod. You can look up Lunkers TV on youtube, he has good stuff (when he's out fishing). Lastly, if you're out on the water, catching a ton of fish, and you're worried space is starting to dry up on your card too fast, go into the settings and turn your resolution down and your Frames Per Second. This will extend how much footage can be saved onto the camera. Trust me, 720p at 30 frames still looks good. 1080 at 60 frames isn't always needed. Turning down those settings will let the card hold more hours of footage.

Or you can spend about 100 bucks and get a digipower 12 hour battery pack. Best gopro purchase I've ever made

I agree with Snook20. I would have more than three batteries, since that is probably only 4-5 hours of time (at least that is what it would be in my camera with my settings). If you are looking for extra batteries, I have purchased and used both the Wasabi and Smatree batteries you can get off Amazon and they work just as good as the GoPro brand batteries at a third to half the price.

buy extras batteries and a case to keep everything together. I got everything on amazon. Agree on the 720p, 1080p is nice but save the space. I upload to youtube in 720p and it still looks greats.

I use the yolotek aqua stick power! Best thing ever for a go pro mount in a boat....it provides constant power to your go pro via the back light port.....no need for extra batteries and whatnot

all good stuff guys, and thank you!!!
My choices will be limited because I have to set this up on somebody else's tin boat. But sounds like I need to get some more batteries & SD cards.
Just want to make sure I've got enough power & storage.

Thanks Mucho!!!

Check Amazon and eBay for your batteries. I stocked up on a bunch of batteries (lots of sellers that will sell 6 in a package) and haven't had trouble with any of them holding up.

It may work if you can find the right mount......mine plugs into the USB outlet on the pole itself to provide constant power
