I prefer Pecan Creek over the other Ray Roberts arms. Always have. When the south wind blows hard, it’s best for me to stick to something more protected for comfort mainly. Given a choice, I would rather fish in comfort vs being beat up so I go to the west side for a few days…

Tuesday – My middle son and I gave it our best shot. We fished trees and trees and more trees. Lots of trees to choose from. I tried to pick the trees in 20’ of water. Some in 18. We found a bunch but nothing major. Still a good day. Lost a 10' rod which is a bummer. It launched off the deck at mach 3 while I was helping my son.

Wednesday – My friend talked me into doing something different. Different area in the west side in different depth. It paid off. We fished trees and trees and more trees. Started off fast and furious and shortly after the fish shut down or we caught them all. I tend to think the fish shut down. It was a great day.

Today – I took my oldest son to look for another 20. Same area as Wednesday, not as many fish. Actually, the fish were few and far between. We fished trees and trees and more trees.

Every tree looked good. Little sticks. Big stumps. Wide or skinny, they all looked good to me. I bet 4 out of 5 trees we fished over the last 3 days didn’t hold fish. Minnows worked. Jigs did too except pink/blk/char for some reason. Big props to Ray Roberts guides for being able to stick with the changing fish, wind, and for fishing the right trees!

Boat is covered now. Time to get back in the fields where there aren't any trees to choose from grin

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

usually trees that have more arms branching out underwater, all crappie I've been catching been in 30 feet but they've been 10-15ft in the water column, all of my trees I fish I'll pull out one after another, and I'll fish the tree right next to it and won't catch one, one tree in that area holds them. Never figured out why.

those rattles sure are hard to find. give it up plz?? ha

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
