Haven't fished Ray Roberts before... Going out with a buddy who just got a new boat and is just getting into bass fishing. Minimal electronics, would love to get on some fish. We are launching at the ramp right at 377. Any good spots that you would recommend? What are you throwing out there this time of year? Thanks!

If that means Buck creek, stay there and fish all day....plenty of water deep to shallow. Flip the timber, top water early.
IDLE out there though. If you've never ran it, DONT.

We had a bit of luck on main lake points with rocks, in about 8 feet of water

I had 2 good days on Ray Bob last weekend, one day on the lower end of the lake and one day up in the Buck area. No giants but great numbers each day and off the water by noon. Best pattern for us was point hopping with a topwater and square bill, we had a couple mixed in on a t-rig but the action was not nearly as fast and furious doing that. Big fish was only 3.5 - 4 lbs, but we caught lots of those hard fighting 2 lb chunks. Lake is fishing pretty good right now IMO.

if he's wanting to run the boat than I would recommend launching at IDB or Jordan so he can run safely. If you are just fishing then I would stay in Buck and idle out to main lake...than just fish your way back!

As a fairly new boater I agree, be very careful if you are putting in at Buck Creek. Go slow and keep your outboard trimmed up.

AR There's a point on the other side of 377, that the old 377 road use to run through , it's on the north east side , fish that point, with senkos and wacky rig, and it's easy to run out of buck creek, you can see the cuts boat lane it makes, and run down the old rail road tracks until you see a cut that opens to the main lake, then you can see the cut in the or open spaces in between the trees on your way out to main lake, their safe with the lake filled up, you take that all way to Indian or until you get to wolf island. just follow the cuts open spaces, if you turn right to go to isle du bois which is you turn right after you get off the old rail tracks, there's a couple cuts but one the the reflective tape on it it the right one, the other cuts have stumps in the middle.

If you have a good map. Look for a hump at the mouth of Buck creek called the Hog pen. Fish it around 10 to noon. Fish the drop in Buck on the old railroad bed. You can fish the railroad bed and do well. Buck creek will take you two weeks to fish so just go enjoy.

If you are new to Ray Roberts you will not know where the "boat lane" is located. Most of the trees along the north edge are gone. As others have said the south end is easier to run

I have had the same experience as SeaAggie (We had a bit of luck on main lake points with rocks, in about 8 feet of water).
