If I have to worry about bad spools, what knot to tie and making sure knots are perfect, Im not interested. Junk the fluoro and get same mono, expecially if your a poor school teacher.

Get the rod out in some good light and inspect each guide carefully. When I had a problem I tried the Q tip thing and it didn't detect the cracked guide. Maybe I was rotating the Q tip in the wrong direction . In good light I could see the crack. I think with the Q tip you need to rotate in both directions..
