I have a 99 merc 225 , this weekend I was cruising across the lake at about 4000 rpms , and all of the sudden it started gaining rpms and I let off off the hot foot but it kept running wide open so I shut it down and when I would restart it it was wide open , so I got towed back to the dock checked all of the linkage from the hot foot to the motor everything is working properly so after it set for awhile I started it and it was back to idleing normal , so I idled around but never got back on plane in fear of it doing the same thing , I am thinking maybe something electrical has anyone had this problem or know of a good merc mechanic in the Dfw area I could talk to. Thanks

I have seen the Merc EFI`s suck up a piece of fuel hose, left in the bottom of the cowling and hold the butterfly`s open.
