Can anyone recommend some kind of cutter that will cut cleanly through braid and not chew it up?

Buy a small pair of Fiskars scissors and carry them in the boat.

I bought the fiskars scissors and they work as well as the buck scissors and you can buy these at walmart in school supplies area. You won't be disappointed.

I've sold a hundred of the Boomerang cutting tool.. Truly a great product that works!! Might cost more than a pair of scissors but handy, light, and I have not heard one complaint about them..

Yep. Not sure about clipping it to my shirt, I probably would forget where I put it. This is a good tool but pretty much any tool will cut braid if you pull it tight and hold it while you are cutting. After I tie my knot I hold the tag end in my teeth and pull it tight then use my clippers or scissors to cut it. The trick is pulling it tight before you try to cut it.

I like the Berkley hot wire cutter -- AAA-battery powered, has tiny wire loop that gets real hot and makes nice clean cut by melting the line. Think I paid $12-15 for it, and well worth every penny. Tried to include a picture but I guess the URLs are too well encrypted.

so - i got these on sale at LL bean 6 years ago- best all around angling tool i ever bought handles cutting any type of line - strong enough for working with lightweight wire items, and perfect length for digging out the odd stubborn hook from a fishes mouth. I keep them either clipped to me or a lanyard on my tool box. Dr. Slick Scissor Clamp Straight Tip

Have several Boomerangs. Been using them for years and love them. Have one clipped to my PFD and one on each of my fly bags (fresh and salt water). And you don't need to pull braid tight to cut it with a Boomerang.

Go to academy to the reel bar, they usually have tubs up there of random cheap things. about 2 years ago I bought some CHEAP tournament choice scissors out of one of those bins. Works like a charm on all line types and still have it today.

I stole a pair of the plain orange handled scissors out of the wife's craft box many years ago, they worked so well I stole the replacement set she bought and now have a pair of them hanging off each side of the console in my boat. I have cut braid and mono with them for years now, no need to reinvent the wheel to cut string.
