Yellow to yellow?
Do you have a "no source" screen?
Do you even see the SS option on the pages menus? If no, did you go into the advanced menu and turn on the structure scan option?
If you have none of the above and you just have a black screen then that's normal if you're not in the water.
Ok, your turn to tell me what you're seeing.

The LSS ducer won't plug into the 8. It will plug into the 7touch, 9T & 12T. Completely different models than the non touch 7, 8 & 10.
Now if you are referring to the 2d sonar, then he's partially right; but that doesn't cause a "no source".
You need to try another Ethernet port on the box.
Or you have a bad enet cable, known to happen.
Yellow wire isn't hooked up properly can also throw a no source.
Are the lights turned on, on the LSS module. They are very faint and you'll have to be in a dark room to see them.
Report back.

Yellow wire from the graph needs to be hooked to the yellow wire on the LSS module. This wire wakes up (turns on) the LSS module and it turns off the LSS module when you power off the graph. Hook that wire up.

Those are from each of the power cables?? Does that also not let it drain that battery??

Yes sir, one yellow is on the graphs power cable and the other is on the LSS power cable.
The LSS power cable has red, black and yellow. Red to the + battery terminal. Black to the - negative battery terminal and the yellow goes to the graph yellow power cable.
Yep, keeps it from draining the battery. Some hook the yellow and red to the battery, but that's not the right way to install it.
Also, since it's a used system keep in mind that Ethernet cables are notorious for breaking. Get it hooked up right and we'll go from there.

Yes, you need a regular 2d sonar ducer for high speed readings. The LSS ducer only works at idle speeds.

You're friend is trying to cost you a lot of money and aggravation...
The sbl9 switchbox is for when you have 2- 2d sonar transducers running into 1 graph. For example: I have transducer that "shoots through my hull" for high speed running. I also installed a transom mounted transducer to get better detail when idling. Well, I can't run both into the graph because theirs only 1 sonar port.. So I bought a sbl9 and I can now flip between the 2 transducers.
Or say that I only had one graph on my boat at the console; but yet I had a transducer on the trolling motor and I had a transducer on the transom. I would need the switchbox to be able to switch between both transducers.

So I can run a reg transducer straight to unit for high speeds and have the SS transducer hooked up to the lss1 for idling and run them with no problem???

That's how the older lowrances work. A 2d sonar transducer, a lss transducer and a lss module. Now the Touch models changed all that.
