I need help setting up my 94 gambler intimidator. I'm running a 98 200 Mercury Efi and a 3 blade 25p tempest plus. The hole shot is good but top end and performance is no where near what it should be. I'm talking 15-20mph off. That is based off of same model, same kind of setups. I can't figure out what the problem is. The only problem I can see is the jack plate. I can't get the right height pad to prop I need. It's a 10in J & B manual jack plate the main bolt is maxed out and only raises the motor approx 1 in. I'm guessing I'm 1-2 inches off what it needs to be. Blows my mind why it only raises one inch, unless the main bolt was installed backwards? I tried contacting J & B disconnected of course, obviously they aren't in business anymore. I'm not sure what to do next. Any logical educated ideas? I'm all ears..

I have a gambler. What speeds are you reaching and what are your RPMS at wot.
Prop shaft height?
I have a 1992 19'3 intimidator with a 94 EFI merc. I'm running a 24P 4 blade trophy plus. My holeshot is decent and my top end is 72 with 2 guys and a light load.

Or post your question on "Gambler Bass Boats" Facebook page. That's where you'll get the best answers.

You boat sounds like one of my old boats Ricky. Is it red with grey carpet?

No sir, silver and black. I bought it up in north Arkansas a couple months ago.

Thats cool buddy! That is a really nice rig. I had a couple Gamblers just like the one you have. My first one was red with grey & silver stripes that matched the Merc 200 EFI. It was a head turner. My second one was white with maroon stripes and maroon carpet with a Hi Perf Merc 2.5 EFI Racing motor. It would GPS 88 with a 26 Hoss Triton Prop. Cool boats buddy.

Did you tell you father I said hello?

Need more info. Is this a new problem? Prop to pad height. Speed @ RPMs under what wind/water/air temp conditions? Water pressure? Full/light load? Any engine mods? How much are you trimming? How experienced are you at driving the G?

Start simple and cheap- raise or lower your motor. Tempest like to run little deeper. I am running mine at 4.5" currently. Watch water pressure.

The older Gamblers tend to run flatter than the new ones. Mine is getting closer to a strong setup. This is how she's running at 72mph with 2 good sized guys, half tank of gas in a light head wind. My TM is heavy and I have a 40lb battery up front (gonna move it to the back soon). Note the boat's flatness but the narrow throw. BTW- motor in sig is not same as video. I repowered to 250 EFI in vid.

LET’S GO BRANDON!!!

You may want to go to my second favorite forum, www.bbcboards.net If you scroll down, they have a Gambler section. They also have a Setup section. They should be able to get you fixed up.

Have a Blessed Day,
Mike
