I broke down and ordered a set for my Seaark trailer. Just git tired of having to horse the boat up on the trailer and not knowing if I was going to slam into the winch post. If I came up short, then it was manual cranking the rest of the way. I recover the bunk board with a plastic material when the carpet started to go but it just didn't give the desired results. I never unhook the boat until I'm at the water so no problem there.

The ultimate boards are plastic and don't cover them with carpet or you defeat the purpose. The issue with them is that they will bow a lot when the boat is on them and need a reinforcement backbone on them.

Why would I cover them with plastic? Kinda defeats the purpose. My boat is am alum MV so there shoudn't be much if any bow. If there is, I'll back them with alum channel.

Bob, I will be interested in how they work out for you. I have considered them in the past but backed off because my bunks are 9' long 2x6, and not supported in the middle. I have been thinking of getting the ultimate boards and bolting them to treated 2x6 for backbone and lowering the brackets two inches. When you get them please let me know if you think this will work. I too have a 1872 SeaArk.

It will cause your boat to sit 2 inches higher on the trailer and you will have to back further into the water to launch and load. You may also have to reposition the winch post on the trailer. I looked at the ones that have the metal support and decided against them because you would have to cut sections out of it to avoid interference with the bunk supports. I'm going to watch mine and if they sag I'll go to my local metal dealer and get some structural aluminum channel, cut it to fit between the supports and fasten it to the bottom of the boards. I'm just a little over their recommended 48" distance between supports, so I think I'll be OK. Love these little projects.

I was planing on lowering the bunk brackets by 2" to keep the boat setting the same height as it is now. If I remember right I have almost 7' between the bunk brackets. There is two bunks 9' long each.

If you can lower your supports, that would work. I don't have that option. Once my trailer was matched to the boat, the Magic-Tilt guy came up from Beaumont and welded all of my supports.
