Would you buy a motor with a new powerhead? Is there anything to be concerned about? Is it a good or bad idea? Thanks in advance for your expertise advise.

Depends on who rebuilt it. New powerhead should have warranty.

I've pondered the same thing. I look at used boats here and that seems to be the kiss of death to a boat sell. I'd rather buy one with a blown head and have it replaced than to gamble on what someone else had installed. Never fails, it was just installed "a few hours ago". Instant red flag to me.

I would almost want a boat with a new powerhead as long as the seller has the paperwork stating it is new and where the work was done, I bought my boat 5 years ago with a new powerhead that had 7 hours on it and I'm sure I have put 300 or more hours on it but I might have just gotten fortunate when purchasing my boat but I made sure the powerhead came from mercury and it was done professionally. Seeing a boat for sale with a new powerhead installed wouldn't scare me away from purchasing it, especially if the boat is priced right

You need to consider how old the engine is. A rebuilt powerhead on a 30 year old engine means all of the other parts besides the powehead are 30 years old and ready to fail. The carb, wiring and lower unit are few items to consider. I had wiring issues on the rebuilt powerhead boat that I bought. The power cut in and out and was in the shop a couple of times. It was not expensive but I never felt confident driving the boat and always felt it was going to quit again.
