The Lake Fork Anglers 18th tournament of 2016 was Thursday Sept 1 out of Oak Ridge Marina.

Registration started at 5:30 AM at Oak Ridge. The tournament starts at 6:30 AM and ran until 2:30 PM. You have until 3:00 to bring your score sheets in.

Anglers may go out of any ramp they want too.

Results from Sep 1:

Club members caught 135 bass total on a beautiful morning that turned into a very unstable afternoon. Most got off the water before the storms hit however. There were a lot of fish caught mainly on wacky rigs, c-rigs, T-rigs and drop shots. Same old story but it is true. The top water bite was on but the hookups were few.

The biggest story is that of the lunkers. Now you'd think if you caught an over (over 24" at Fork) that went 9.03 you'd be pretty safe to win that lunker award. Not today. John Berech caught his in deep water on a main lake point and it went 9.03. But Charlie Abresch, who already owns the lunker in Hard Core at 9.03 turns around and catches a 9.35 in deep water in the mouth of Little Caney.

Wow!
.

1st place went to Galen Smith again with 7 fish for 18.83 and a 7.033 lunker.
We only count the five largest.
2nd place went to Charlie Abresch with 3 fish for 11.14 and the 9.35 lunker.
3rd place went to Bill Ailes with 7 fish for 10.74 pounds and a 3.48 lunker.
4th place went to John Berech with 3 fish for 9.65 and the 9.03 lunker
5th place went to Chuck Roy with 15 fish for 9.12 with a 1.91 lunker.
6th place went to Mark Talley with 4 fish for 8.55 with a 3.81 lunker..

We paid 6 places and had 34 anglers fishing and caught 135 fish and lot of them were not quality slots. Only three anglers skunked in this tournament. Some had a lot of success while had none. It is Lake Fork

How are those weights even possible. Because we measure and release, and record on a laminated sheet.

And congrats to:
Charles Abresch all time club lunker of 9.35 lb
Bill Ailes for a new 2016 5 fish bag of 10.74 lb
John Berech for a new all time club lunker at 9.03 lb and five fish limit of 9.65 lb
Johnny Hall for a new all time LFA club lunker at 1.61 and 5 fish bag at 4.53 lb
Galen Smith for a new al time club 5 fish limit of 18.33 lb
Paul Spann for a new all time club 5 fish limit of 6.41 lb

Way to goes guys!

The LFA fishes every other Thursday daytime at Lake Fork only. Persons interested in joining or fishing as a guest should e-mail me at sjbasser@aol.com. or PM me on here.

Here is your opportunity to fish with friendly knowledgeable Lake Fork anglers for the cost of a $5 annual dues and a $13 entry fee. Slot fish count. No teams. We are currently at below cap and are looking for a some boaters who will also fill in as co-anglers if needed and we will also accept "guests" who generally get to fish when regular members are away.
Actually none of our guests has sat one out as yet. And we are also looking for co-anglers.

Sometimes Fork is a big question mark. But even though we don't always slay them a few will find them. This week more than a few slayed them
