If motor is in gear with the boat out of water should you be able to turn prop? My will turn some but hard

Take a sharpy, make a line on your prop washer and your prop. Put motor in gear in water run it on or launch it. Check and see if your lines are split. Do your rpm's jump up without the expected increase in power?

Do not do what you are doing. If it's turning not turning the gears its spun.
