I am convinced that Bridgeport crappie only grow to 9.5 inches. Went through 3 dozen minnows today and caught a 9.5 inch crappie on almost every one of them. Still a lot of fun. Did not get on the water until around noon. Might be my problem. Maybe I should set an alarm clock.

Joe Pool use to be like that. I just means there was a very good spawn that year and fishing will be much better next year.

Rockport has some big fish in it. Haven't fished it in a while but you're looking in the wrong places and minnows isn't it. Reach out to Rockhopper on the forum. He'll put you on some fish.

We fished the bridge 2 weeks ago and caught prolly 60 of them little boogers. Moved to the spill way on the wall closest to boat ramp and caught 15 keepers and ran out of minnows.

That's how Lake Bonham is. FULL of crappie but 9.5 and 9.75ers. Now this spring I did catch a lot of keepers but never a limit. This has been the case for 3 years that I been fishing. I have 25 piles out and still hard to catch keepers. But if you wanna catch crappie it's fun.

I went this past weekend and also went through 4 or 5 dozen and played the whole 9.5in game. I caught afew keepers. But next year should be a beast.

They are there. Use bigger bait and follow the schools of shad. They mix with the sandies sometimes but watch for any cover in open water and drop offs. They hold tight during the daylight hours. Keep moving to different structure cause if they aren't on it pretty quick they aren't there or in a negative feeding pattern. This time of year they are getting fat on each successive shad hatch. A mature crappie will take a lot larger offering than you think this time of year when their metabolism is still high. Fish with treadfin or small gizzard shad up to 31/2 or 4 inches. You'll be surprised. Caught some fatties today doing just that on Proctor.
