I see a ton of kayakers sporting jerseys, promoting sunglasses, led lights, reels, rods, baits, kayaks, etc. and wonder how many of them are actually "paid" to participate, as opposed to getting a discount on the products they promote? I'm speaking of deals exactly like professional bass fisherman, not a discount program.
Thanks for reading.

I think everyone probably has a little different agreement with each company they work with. Some of the bigger companies that could actually pay anglers usually make them sign a NDA as part of their contract not to reveal the details of their contract. A lot of times two people on the same team or sponsored by the same company don't get the same deal, so privacy of their details keeps the peace. I cant speak for everyone that has sponsorships, but in my experience it usually comes with a discount and or free product.

What Cody said. Also very few get paid. You have to go out and win that yourself. I always thought this was a funny video.

Haha, funny video. Had not seen that one before.
I have no desire to be a "Pro" staffer for anybody. But it is cool that some guys get paid to represent. More power to them. I'm simply curious about the arrangements.

Everyone's situation, wants, abilities n needs r different. Some do get paid especially if the work at the outfitter or a shop. Those folks get free use of all the demo kayaks, gear & tackle. They can better sell the product that way. Some shops will sell to the sponsored at cost or a good discount. The sponsored could also have their expenses reimbursed for traveling, tourneys, demo & promo trips. Some get commission of sales as well. Big tourneys can also generate paychecks for organizers, winning participants and ultimately the sponsors. The sport is getting there 4 sure. Some companies will send u free gear if u will review their products. Lots of win win situations n different ways to do things. These r just a few
