I always knew those Bohonks in Shiner could cook.My Grandma Kresta on my mothers side sure could cook. I will never forget her cooking. The wife picked up some sausage the other day at WallyWorld and I mean to tell you it was GOOOOOD. Good Ole' Shiner made sausage. Needless to say that's my Go To sausage from now on. She said they had the Jalapeno variety also but didn't get that. If you haven't tried it, I encourage you sausage lovers to give it a try. Wish I had an extra pkg handy I could tell ya the Brand name. If you know some ole' folks from there that may have heard of Charlie Kresta's family...PM I'm almost 70!!

V-Bottom, I am going to guess you got some Meaker's sausage. If so, you need to try their jalapeno/cheese summer sausage.

If you get a chance try the Polish Wedding Sausage made by Polloks in Falls City. It's a fresh sausage in a natural hog casing. It's in the fresh meat section near the ground beef at most HEB stores.

^^^^^ This. Their beef and/or pork sausage is excellent. They also make a very good venison sausage if you have some venison to use.

What kind of grind is it? The fine stuff you normally find in the grocery stores or the coarser grind like they serve at Smitty's, Kreutz, LaGrange, and other central Texas places.

Green's sausage is a coarser grind, not mushy fine texture like a hot dog. Same way we grind ours when we make our own. smile

Little off topic but Green's in Zabcikville also does a really good job of deer processing. Basic cut is about the same price as anywhere else. If you start adding smokes and sausages the price tag can climb quickly.

Little Elm Krogers had Shiner Brats for $2.88 a pack yesterday. They were 2 days away from the sell by date so I bought four and tossed them in the freezer. They are usually $4.99. Never tried the Brats but the regular sausage is good.
