I use 7/O Circles and have been deep hooking several of the fish. In the throat and gills. I haven't been trying to remove the hook. Just cutting it off and let them swim off. Don't know and haven't heard which is best remove or just cut off. It can't be good either way. Trying to get others thoughts on this subject. I am a catch and release fisherman most of the time.

What hooks and what size fish are you catching? I use 7/0 circles and very rarely get a deep hooked fish.

Are you Snelling the hooks so they will turn in fish mouth.?

I do snell the hooks. Maybe just extremely hungry fish. A lot of them pick it up and come straight at me.

I had the same problem on Lavon yesterday only with 6/0 Gama circles. I caught
11 keepers up to 5lbs. and 5 of them were deep hooked. I don't know what was going
on yesterday. Caught a 39 pounder that was perfectly hooked in the lip. I may upsize
to 8/0's which I use in the winter.

Thanks BigPoppa I seen that knot tied the other day on G3 sportsman and forgot how to do it. I have 2 knots broken in the last tow trips. Who said you can't teach a old dog a new trick!
