I'm going to Tawakoni Sunday have not been in a few weeks. I was fishing the State Park 2 mile bridge aria. Have not been in the Holiday Hump Area since first of summer. Is it still a big boat show at the humps? Last few times on lake did not see many birds working. Any pointers would be apprecated.

I have been about 6-7 trips in the last 3 weeks maybe more and the weekday traffic is almost nothing we saw 5 total yesterday, a couple of trips ago only 3 all day, I love it, fishing is great. Wednesday we were the only trailer in the St Park when we launched and left both.

Got on lake around 3 :00 went to first spot. But there were already 2 boats trolling over the hump. Went over by sun point and saw 100's of birds working was all excited, but no takers. Tawakoni birds are liars lol. Went back to first spot around 6:30 and boated around 30 keeper in about an hour. I was using reverb tail spinner and wife was jigging slabs from Moe's. Wind picked up and it was 3 ft swllles time to go home. Be careful and be safe Tawakoni can go from glass smooth to the bay of Tawakoni In a few minutes.

Everything in the lake is eating this years spawn of shad. Downsize your lure and you will find that those birds may not be lying after all. I went to a 2 1/2 inch paddle tail grub on Belton and caught 50 a day whites and hybrids. Yes, even those keeper hybrids are eating the little shad. It is time to match the hatch.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Every fish I have caught in the last 2-3 trips has been on a white Little George or white 3-3.5" white curly tail, fishing is great now

Where did you catch em at Belton? Heading there this weekend and it will be my first time on the water.
