Does anyone know of a video source (Perhaps YOUTUBE -- where I am going to look this morning -- that'll show me how to properly open the operating control box on my mid-70's Higgscraft?
As I wrote before (6-27?), the key is lost, and I just unscrewed the exterior plastic ring but realized that if I push it into the box, it stays inside; it will absolutely not pull out even if I gently use pliers.
There are four Phillips screw in all operator-side corners, and the shifter has an Allen screw, but am I just opening a can of worms?
Finally, if I can't find an ignition switch that'll start an '80s 80hp outboard, is there an alternative switch (Johnson?, or even a car/truck switch?).
Anyway, I've written down the engine model # and will call around.
Thank you! John, 210-307-0336

1975 85hp outboard Evinrude. I imagine it's 2 cycle.

Clarification: It's a 4 cylinder.

First off the control is of same manufacture as the outboard motor. 1980 2 cycle Johnson outboard motors have to have 2 ign. (M) post and a choke post for center push-in activation.
