My pond near my house has a fountain on one end. Is there any advantage to fishing close to the fountain or it doesn't matter? Your input is appreciated.

The local pond where they stock trout has a large fountain . I run my lure right through the middle of it and limit out pretty quickly .

Never caught a bass or cat there but it's worth a shot .

I have fished many times in fountain ponds and and in my experience, I've had more luck on the banks and by cover, not the fountain.

I fished the TI pond in Stafford semi regularly before they closed and the Mo City Park lake for stocker trout and have had the best luck for bass and trout away from the fountains.

I've caught fish by the fountains before. But no more than any other areas. Fish will relate to a fountain that isn't running more so than one that is running. My experience with fountains is to avoid them mostly becuse some how I always get hung up on the cables that hold them in place. Some fountains that have lights on at night will attract fish though.

^^^. I've done that two. Got hung up on the hose or whatever and reeled the thing a ways from where it was supposed to be.

Try the fountains in the coldest part of winter. They warm the water some and will draw fish. Especially if there are crappie in your pond. Try a weedless jig under a float.

IMHO, when bass fishing, it depends on the size of the pond. If it's a smaller pond then most likely the fountain keeps the fish away. I haven't caught many in all the ponds that I have fished that have fountains, that were right under the fountain. I will use the water splashing from the fountain as a cover for the bait to enter the water, but I mainly fish the edges.
There 1-2 other ponds that I fish that are much bigger than your average city pond that also have fountains. The one that I fish the most is standing in about 10 feet of water. In this case, I can catch them right under the fountain. While the bass like the moving water, I think they are scared of the noise and the suction.

My 2cents

Fountains shut off at night, I always find a fish using the "off" fountain as cover after dark.

The dude abides...
