The fridge will keep them alive longer, but they won't make babies at that low temp. They need 60 to 80 degrees to reproduce. I am toying with the idea of raising red wigglers and European nightcrawlers.
i wouldn't get the ice box type...get African Nightcrawlers...tuff critters...i had a jillion bak n the day...red wrigglers r 2 small...ice box type r Canadian Nightcrawlers...they dy fast n the heat and go limp when u fish'm n warm water...worms r asexual?...teardrop eggs hatch n about 60 days...keep'm moist, NOT WET...
I started a worm farm with some left over red wigglers from walmart. I use two 5 gallon buckets to keep them in. All you need is moist shredded newspaper and veggies scraps. You can get a good deal on nightcrawlers at this place. http://www.deckerwormsales.com/fishingbait.htm
