Can someone tell me the life cycle of shad? More particularly, what size crankbait do I throw in what season?

Post span for bass is when shad spawn is. Use small shallow running crankbaits around rocks during full and new moons. Don't day fish after a new or full moon you won't catch anything, they will be full of shad.
