Got on the lake early yesterday morning with my best friend Jon Byrnes. He needed this trip worse than me ( I thought ), because he needed to get things off his mind for awhile if possible. With that said, many prayers for him and his family, because his elderly father has been missing since Saturday morning. I learned a few things as the day went on. One, God gave us these wonderful creatures to catch and pursue. Fishing brings joy to millions world wide. I noticed in the briefest of moments, as Jon was fighting a crappie to the surface, that his mind was on the good before him and not the bad. I could see as we finished the day, the hurt start to bother him worse ( gotta face it ). Second, I thank the good Lord for the days on the lake with good friends, because we aren't promised tomorrow. Every breath we take is new and fresh, no such thing as an old breath of air! God granted us a great day on the lake and plenty of crappie! Got to see the sun rise on my favorite lake with a true friend! Praises for the good and prayers for the bad! Fish hard all! Enjoy each day like it is the last!

Caught most on a new, soon to be released color from Thermocline Lures, Copper Mine. It has tested off the charts! Fish were caught in 10 to 13 FOW on structure and not cover.

Prayers for your friend and family and for you being a helping hands to him ! I know lake Winnsboro pretty well . Use to live there back from 66' to 72' when I went in the service . Still got a couple brothers and a sister living there . Back in the 60s' there was a place bait shop on the end opposite the dam I think it was called Taylors Little Horn but I maybe mistaken . Caught a lot of bass in that area and on the bridge just below there . Mostly out on the point tho around from the bait shop . Last time I was there it was all built up with lake homes frown , so disappointing . Caught my first 6-lb bass around there on a bobber , hook and bologna . That lake use to have some really big bass too if you could find them . I had a lot of 20-lb test lines broke and loss a lot of H&H lures which were very popular back then . Hoping someday I get a chance to fish there again .

Everytime I go to Winnsboro I usually drive around it. Opposite side of lake was a place called Carolines'Estates . Use to be a huge tree in the middle of the intersection but was gone last time I was there . I learned to flyfish in that area , caught some nice bass ! People thought me and my friend was crazy for flyfishing wink .

Thanks so much to everyone praying and for your prayers! Praise to our Lord! Jon's father was found yesterday evening alive and ok in Lamesa TX! He was a pretty fair distance from the Winnsboro area! A very special thanks to Crope1, for calling and seeing what he can do! He went above and beyond his duties as an officer of the law to help! I can not thank you enough Ronnie for the care that you have, and the heart that you show for us all! Thank you for caring so much and offering all that you could! Once again my God proved to be more awesome than I know! I am truly blessed to have found this forum and all the great Crappie catchermen on here!
