I have people often tell me that they don't fish Lewisville because it's mainly a water ski/big boat lake. Too crowded and busy to have much fishing.
Not true. Rarely do I notice much boat traffic that bothers my fishing. Most of the jet ski's and skiers come out later than I fish anyway.
Fishing for the last couple of weeks has been pretty good with most trips producing 12-20 fish over 12" plus many short fish.
Today Rick and I decided to fish but were tired of going to the same old spots so we elected to fish only area's we haven't ever or recently fished.
In four hours we caught and released over 150 total fish with 38 over 12".
Any cover, stumps, rocks, concrete foundations (there are a lot) held good fish. 12'-20' depth. 1/8 oz jig heads, any color body (we used thump buddies) worked today. Most of what we fished today were old bushpiles or stumps that were pretty much rotted away or gone but they held bigger fish than the newer ones.
Got to hot by noon, had to quit. Quite a good day.

Ernest, I really get jealous after reading your posts. I fished 6-7 brush piles this past Saturday morning and all I could catch were dinks. Dozens of little fish, no keepers. At least it wasn't a complete waste, I found 3 new piles in the Old Lake Dallas area.

Three of us only managed 18 keepers in 5 hours and we knew where they had been biting. Most of the keepers came after 10:00 AM. Some days are just like that, timing and being in the right place. I know that seems like a lot of fish for 4 hours but all the spots we fished were within one mile of the Marina. So many were dinks and really eager to bite when we first hit a spot. After a quick dozen or two the big ones would bite.

I am finding the better fish to be coming from standing visible timber 10'- 15'.

Maybe that is where I made my mistake. If all I'm catching are dinks, I usually pull-up the trolling motor and head to the next pile rather quickly. Maybe I should have tried waiting a little longer in hopes of the bigger ones starting to bite. I just tried to cover as much water as I could in the 4 hrs I had to fish. Thanks for the updates!
