i've ben puttin' these Gulp worms/maggots on a small hook and ketchin' the crapola outta perch n my LBJ canal (which is for sell i might add) usin' a cork w/no weight...n the process, i'm caught a 4lb and 2lb blue cat and sum baby channels...the worms r really big/stink good...easy 2 cut & put on the hook

Gulp Alive products are great. Use the night crawlers a lot.

I have never done well using Gulp products. Chuck, how do you fish them? Do you use them as if they were live bait, or some special technique?

They intrigue me too. I think you can use them as artificial, Texas rigged, or live bait threaded on a hook. I hear the crappie bites are effective. They apparently have a long shelf life too.

I take pieces from them like I would on a live night crawler. I would thread them on a hook leaving a inch or two hanging over the hook. I do the same with the Berkley Trout Worms. I bounce them a lot off the bottom or move them a lot on the float. I do not let them stay still long while fishing them. I also free float them a lot with good results.

I tried Gulp Nightcrawlers last night, not the ALIVE version, just Gulp night crawlers in a jar. I threaded them on a #6, and it got pulled around a lot, but no hooks... so I switched to a #10 and still it got yanked on a lot, but no hook up.

To be fair, this jar has been in a hot garage, and the worms seemed somewhat stiff and solid, and that hindered my hook point a little... but I don't know if that's just the way they are, or if the heat goofed em before I opened them.

Also I could see some of the fish hitting it, and some of them were really really small - they may have just been picking at it, unable to take the whole thing. I need to take this jar out to the lake and see if the bigger fish will nail them.

The Alive line is different. Different materials and scent oil.

I also fish the Gulp! Alive! products every once in a while. I find that I fish them very much like I would live bait 57c125635fa90and do well when my other more active artificial presentations are less successful. I have the crickets, hellgrammites, maggots, minnows and fry. What I find that works for me is to fish them as I would when I fish live bait. What I mean by that is if I have success on a certain body of water with a drop shot rig and live bait, I keep the rig and switch the live bait out for the Gulp. Gulp is definitely tougher than most live bait and stays on the hook better so you can unhook a fish and get your rig out much faster on average compared to the same rig with live bait. In my experience bluegills and other sunfish bite the Gulp with similar, if not more, enthusiasm that they do the live bait.

One thing I like about the Gulp is the fact that they give you options that are hard for most live bait fisherman to come by. I only know of a handful of bluegill fisherman who fish with minnows, not because they are not effective but because they are so hard to come by and hard to keep alive and frisky. When you add up the cost of the minnows bought, the aerator to keep it alive, the minnows that died of stress or minnows that are not so frisky and the minnows that get get swiped, thrown and or swallowed in the act of fishing, you owe it to yourself to keep a jar of Gulp! Alive! minnows just to try, or if you are a minnow fisherman you owe it to yourself to try the Gulp. You might cut down the money you spend on minnows, if not cut out live minnows all together. By the way, I highly suggest all sunfish fisherman try minnows whether they be live or artificial. There's no doubt that bigger bluegills, redbreasts, longears and other sunfish prefer minnows whenever they are available and they don't normally see them on hooks like they do crickets and worms quite often. I would say the same thing to stream, creek and river fisherman to try out the hellgrammites. I don't know Gulp makes a crawfish version, but if they do, it would also be a prime candidate for flowing water anglers as well as waters with a lot of rock. Especially the off shore humps and brush piles that bigger sunfish tend to summer around. Hope this helps yall.
