I know I will get a lot of traction on this thread, but I need to replace my starting and trolling motor batteries. What is the best brand to buy? Need the 27 series for both trolling and starting battery, only run a 12 volt Edge 55 minn kota on a 16 ft. bass tracker w/50hp Merc. I have Excides now, got 3 yrs out of them but they aren't holding a charge. I've looked at prices from Sears, Bass Pro, and of course Academy. Don't know if I want to go back to Excide's or not. Want to keep the cost as low as I can around 100 bucks each, can't afford the Optimas and have read good and bad about them, but too many $$$. Appreciate your feedback as to the service you have gotten out of your brand of the batteries that you all use. Thanks guys.

You lost me at $100 and Sears.
Seriously, battery prices for good batteries are ridiculous. I have Interstate and Odyssey. Currently trying to figure out why my Odyssey is dead when I used their charger religiously. Likely to end up a warranty claim. My Interstates have done fine, but they ain't cheap either. Good luck.
LET’S GO BRANDON!!!

The first 3 years are full replacement and the last 2 years are pro-rated. I just bought a pair last week. They are my 3rd set and all have lasted 3-4 yrs. As for a starting battery the Sears Platnium AGM I have is no longer carried by Sears but it is made by Odyssey.

I used 2 everstart 29 deep cycle for my trolling motor on my last boat. Never a hiccup in the 4 years I owned it.
I like agms for my starting battery. Currently running X2 power group 27 from batteries plus. Has a 4 year full warranty.

I use the everstart 29 deep cycles for my trolling motor (2 of them) and I use one for my starting battery. Best thing I've done on my boat. The deep cycle has plenty of cranking amps, and I can run my electronics and livewell pumps all day and still start up just fine

How many of you use a deep cycle for cranking and etc? I just might change mine out.

Wallyworld Everstarts are your ONLY choice for your $100 budget. And a good choice! Just bought three. Maxx 29 for $99 plus tax. Believe the 27 group is $89.

running 2010 everstarts in my boat, still hold a charge all day tournament fishing. Im sure they are going to let me down anytime now, but I will be going back with everstarts when they do. 400 plus tax to replace all 4 compared to 200-400 each for other batteries with similar warranty makes it a no brainer for me. also your never to far from walmart if you need to warranty one.

Make sure you check the voltage of the batteries at Walmart before you buy them. 50% of a 29m battery will sit at around 12.20v. I've seen some size 29 batteries at a DFW Walmart that was at 8.7v. Its manufacturer date was 02/12 and I saw it on shelf 07/14.
