High school tournaments start up in a little less than a month and Denton Ryan is in need of boat captains! It's a great experience and chance to teach the next generation of bass fishermen. We have teams who are experienced and some who may not have fished much before. We fish the west division for the Texas High School Bass Association and our opens tournament schedule is as follows:

September 24th @ Lake Lewisville
October 22nd @ Lake Granbury
November 19th @ Lake Hubbard Creek
February 11th @ Lake Texoma
March 25th @ Lake Whitney
Boat captains can fish in the open tournaments and they usually have a big bass side pot, but they cannot contribute to our bag.

Requirements of the boat captain include filling out a background check through Denton ISD, filling out a boat captain waiver through THSBA, having a minimum of $300,000 liability insurance on their boat, must comply with all of the U.S. Coast Guard/TPWD laws (life jackets, throw vest, kill switch, nav lights, horn,). You also may have to take a lie detector test if your team finishes high enough. More info/any that I may of forgotten can be found at texashighschoolbassassn.com. Like I said above its a great chance to teach the next generation as all anglers are at different levels. If you are interested but not sure you can commit to a full season, you can volunteer for only 1 tournament or whenever fits your schedule! You don't have to captain for every tournament. I'm sure I'm forgetting info so if you have any questions or are interested please feel free to PM me or text me at 940-808-6357! Our club tries our best to help with gas money for the truck and boat at each tournament for our boat captains. We know it isn't cheap but we try our best to help as much as possible and all boat captains are greatly appreciated for what they do for us!

Thank you for taking the time to read.

We still have one member who doesn't have a boat captain for the upcoming tournament on Lewisville. Please pm me if you'd be interested in being a boat captain for him!! Thank you!

I might be able to help out on lewisville, but can't commit to all of them. When do you need to know by.
