Ran about ten miles, hit the ships first then started looking for shrimpers. NOTHING...However, our last shrimper we hit was about 8 miles offshore, and I tease you not, a dude hooked up with a sailfish on a ribbon about 50 yards from us. Saw the whole fight. 8 Miles???? Crazy right. Anyway, didn't catch a dang king, spanish or nothing but saw a sailfish get hooked at 8 miles out and 50 foot deep. Anyway, hit a rig on the way in and caught two keeper Ling.

Congrats on the keeper Ling.
Sails move in real close in late August, early September should see more in next 6 weeks or so.

Yep,, sounds familiar.. Pretty exciting when you pull a sail out from under a shrimp boat. I worked on the island for 7 years. Dad had 2 charter boats at Deep Sea. Way back late 70s. If I remember right, we boated that fish.. We also carried extra beer to trade for shrimp. They would run out after a few days. 5 lbs of tails for 6 pack Shaffer.

Good job on the Ling! Also rare to see a sailfish caught only 8 miles out! Good day on the water for sure. thumb
