736 champion 734 is little to weak for most of my frog fishing IMO if im fishing sparse cover the 735 is a great choice as well.

736 is my dedicated frog rod. You can go with a 735, but I prefer a 6 power over a 5 power rod when fishing areas that I fish frogs in. thumb

Both have a good, soft tip to work a frog but the backbone is where it should be as well. Very versatile. Flutter spoons, tx rigs, jigs, etc.

I use a 705 Champion. The 735 did not exist when I got my 705.

I use a 734 for just about anything. I fished in the mats at Guntersville and the pads at Monticello. I mostly use is for light cover and dollar pads with a popping frog. It's always been plenty sufficient for me. I've caught a bunch of 3-6lbers with it. Haven't caught a giant. Might snap it in half if I jacked a 9lber in the grass. Who knows!

I did use Dobyns for this but recently I have been using the Kistler Carbon Steel frog and flippin rod and really like it.

I use the Savvy 735 and its a beast. I can't tell you how many 5-8 pound fish I've caught in the thickest stuff you can imagine on this rod with 65# braid on Monticello over the years.

735 or 736 for me. HEAVY COVER the 736, moderate cover, the 735, can't go wrong with them. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have 2 Dobyns 735 Savvy rods I have thrown frogs and buzz baits on for about 5 years now. The Savvy is the most durable rod I have ever owned for those types of baits.

Except for replacing a few eyes from me damaging them, they have held up. They get a ton of abuse and much of it in thick slop and with 65-100 pound braid...

My "dedicated" frog rod is a 736. I have a 735 & use it for larger worms & jigs but it didn't have enough backbone for frog fishing in thick cover. Don't let the 6 power scare you off. The tip is plenty soft for casting light hollow bodies and working it.
