I've got an older Triton TR20 dual console that I really like but would prefer a single console. I'm considering taking the sawzall to it and converting it to a single console. I've got a fiberglass buddy who could fill in the gaps but then I'd trim it out with new carpet and trim. I'm curious if anyone out there has attempted it. If so, do you have any pics, advice, etc?

Thanks,
Chris

Sounds like you could cut it off with a sawzall, then come back with a dremel to clean it up and then maybe use some 1/2 vinyl trim to put along the edge.

Mine is a 1999 and it's all glass. The older models don't bolt on. I wish it were that simple.

I had an 03 TR19 years ago and I had a couple parts from when it was single console from previous owner. Not sure the hull is same as 99 but I think it was. It seems like it was bolted in a time or two and was also glued. The extra parts were just one fiberglass piece that went from the deck and wrapped into the side of the top cap and then some what I would call "tread" that must have been placed somewhere to put your foot on. That said, it might not be the prettiest unless you can find one of those fiberglass pieces.

the technique is called "Trade-In"... go get you a new one with a single already...that would sux if the engineer used the console as a brace and the additional flexing caused more issues like stringer separation and severe stress cracks...just a thought...
