Leaving from Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine this weekend traveling to Lake Fork, Emory Best Western. Mapquest suggests taking Hwy 276 out of Rockwall I-30. Never been on 276....lots of lights??? Your suggestion? Thanks.

I take that way 9 out of 10 times...I like going across the Tawak for some reason and the drive is 1.5 hours from Irving every time.

Best way to go in my opinion. There are a few lights heading out of Rockwall and in Quinlan but road for the most part is in good shape.

Some lights around Rockwall and Lake Tawakoni. The road sux though and there are a few speed traps. From Dallas, I just stay on I-30 to Greenville exit HWY 69 S and you're 30 miles from Emory. Best Western is on your right just before HWY 515.

This is the way I would go.

Isn't it one block South of HWY 515? Not before. Doesn't matter you can see BW from the light at 515 and 69

The Best Western is at the intersection of 515 and 69.

It depends on the time of day. Early Saturday morning until around 8:30 AM 276 will be just fine. If you go on Friday night or after 8:30 Saturday morning from Grapevine - take 635 to 30. Then take 30 to 69 in Greenville. That will take you straight to the Best Western. The speed limit on 30 once you get outside of Rockwall will be 70 and 75. It is an easy drive.

LEO's are bad from Quinlan to far East Twok on 276.. I quit going that way long time ago, with Emory selling beer, and Point a package store. Old 276 Twok has all but dried up..

Hardest part of your trip is getting to Rockwall, after that it's pick and choose. I30 to 69 is the longest but faster. 276 out of Rockwall is shorter but slower. Saturday morning early is better than Friday evening in my opinion. Lots of people work in Dallas and live east all the way to Sulphur Springs and they be in a hurry to get home.
