I only had a small window to fish and therefore it was at a walk in wade area. After some time in this area I started to think of this thread from yesterday.
The area I was fishing had no signs of visible bait or any surface activity, but the water clarity was good. The should I stay or should I go thought was running through my head. If I was going to go, it was home due to the small time frame allotted to fish and I was not ready to do that yet.
So I continued to cast, but had I been in a boat I would have left for more active water. I moved out to about waste deep and was using a steady retrieve rigged weedless about 2 feet below the surface. I had an 1/8 oz weighted hook with my(CDL) Controlled Descent Lure ,Paddle Shad. I ended up catching 4 slot reds, all released.
The strike was very aggressive, and I never saw any signs of bait activity in the area.
So even if the signs are not there and you cant move, throw your confidence lure and keep at it. You always have a chance if your lure is in the water.
