I am with Ernest and DFW-fisherman in that I have the Xi5 which is linked to my graphs. This set-up is the best out there IMHO. I personally love the electronics linked to the TM and use it all the time.

Thanks for that info Ernest. Just wish I knew that before buying my Terrova. I find spot lock is not that useful unless I'm out in open water where I can wander around a lot. The terrova will not just hold you where you are. It will wander around and bang you into docks if they are close. Spot Lock useless for crappie fishing in trees and close to docks. I'll be looking at a motor guide next time.

I own a 17 ft Tracker 175. Was fishing on the windy side of the PK lake (where the fish were) the first year I got it and the wind and waves drove me into the rocks causing me to bust the prop off the 45 LB motor that came with the boat. Even at max speed 45 LB could not keep me off the bank. Did manage to get the boat off the rocks using the big metal paddle I carry. Took a lot of doing and some very bad words. Not a process I'd like to repeat. Note, wind and waves are far worse at Twok...
I got an 80 LB Terrova and it handles everything PK can give me. Ernest Patty is hyping the Motorguide's spot lock so that may be a better choice but you'll need that 80 LB motor in the wind.

PKfishin - Glad you made it out of that rocky situation without injury!
Totally agree with your assessment about the 80lb thrust. You only need it - when you NEED it! The "Anchor" feature with the Xi5 is great, a real game changer IMHO. I highly recommend it!

Not something I want to repeat. Without that big paddle I think the waves would have had the whole boat on the bank.

I have (2) two of the following MotorGuide Xi5 motors here at the shop if anyone is thinking of getting one. I also have all the accessories as well as the LiftSaver Mounting Bracket. The LiftSaver Mounting Bracket will allow you to lift the trolling motor up and back out of harms way when launching, loading or docking your boat. The electric steer motors weather Minn Kota and or MotorGuide have a significant overhang of the trolling motor over the standard cable steer foot controlled trolling motors. The LiftSaver Mounting Bracket eliminates the risk of damaging your motor. MotorGuide Xi5 Wireless Trolling Motor - Freshwater - Sonar/GPS - 80lbs-54"-24V Model: 940800230 LiftSaver Mounting Bracket:

I have a new Powerdrive V2 purchased late May, I opened the box and saw it was not what I thought it was, with a copilot 70# 60 inch. I also have a powerdrive with autopilot, sonar built in, and a copilot, new control module, 74# thrust 60" shaft. They both have foot pedals as well. If interested PM me.
