This one will be 5 1/4 inches long, is a floater, should dive to 4 to 6 feet of depth, and is made of solid PVC material. It's basically a smaller "Jake" style lure, though the diving lip is a different shape so it should change the action. I will post more pictures as the project progresses, but here is a photo before weight and the diving lip were added......

What is the name of the drill bit that you use for the eye socket? Where can I get them?

Looks to me like a small spade bit. Lowes/home depot/walmart should have them in different sizes

I use a Forstner bit...it's different than a spade bit as it typically gives a cleaner hole, and the center "guide" area is much smaller.

Lowes, Sears, Home Depot, Walmart all show after a Google search

Here is the finished bait from the beginning of the thread. I need to water test it to check the action, but figured I would post some pictures of it. It is 5 1/4 inches long, sits in the water real nice, hopefully swims well and dives around 5 feet or so. I guess it's time to test it !!!

Here is a quick video that has a few seconds of the lure swimming.
