Contact Mike: info@bigbassfishingmexico.com

He will have the answer to all your questions. I assure you that his price will beat all the others for your trip to El Salto and Picachos. I suggest the split trip where you get to fish 2 days on each of them. There are no hidden cost with Mike like:
- Taxi fees
- Motel in town before your flight out.

There might be some reporting on Sugar Lake through Falcon Lake Tackle.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

Numbers on Falcon have been great with some really nice fish mixed in.. Not unusual at all to catch 50-75 fish a day..

Sugar still putting out good numbers and probably a bit better for size.. But not always..

I have a buddy on Pichachos right now.. Talked to him thirty minutes ago.. Lake is full to the brim.. Rain is a daily occurrence.. At least around you if not on you.. Only boat on lake I hear.. Staying at Ron Speeds.. As do I..

Said buzzbait bite is off the hook.. Lots of fish on squarebills and soft plastics.. Pretty much what Pichachos is.. A fish factory..

If you have questions about Pichachos or Salto give me a call..

I have always promised to tell you what I hear and know, and I am hearing a lot of stuff about the road to Sugar as of late. There have been several shootouts in and around Miguel Aleman and on the road to Sugar in recent days. Including yesterday.

If I had a trip planned over there, I would put it on hold. I have never told you it was 100% safe on the roads over there. And right now there seems to be a lot of hostilities happening..

Like I always say, it is up to you to decide..

I am not saying this without careful consideration, because a lot of our local guides work over there, and I know this will affect their business. But not as bad as if someone showed up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is my opinion.. And it's worth at least what you paid for it..

I would take what noweighers said in strong consideration for the time being. Hopefully a guide who does Sugar a lot will be straight about it. I don't know what it is like over by Sugar, but where I am at- lots of "noise" at night. Remember media in Mexico does not report on this stuff. It's been like that for a while but lately it has been more frequent.

A good friend of mine is in DPS aviation, he flies out of McAllen. He said that on the 26th, there was a gun battle in Miguel Aleman that lasted almost 7 hours. I'm going to wait for things to calm down before I make a run across.

I heard some new news today that things are really bad around Miguel Aleman and Sugar lake..

I highly recommend that you not go to Sugar at this time!!

I'll post more when I know more..

Put your Sugar trip on hold and come fish Falcon..

Personally, I wouldn't let any of those stories discourage me from fishing both sides of Falcon right now.

I saw cartel guys going to Sugar. They are easy to spot. The guys with the brand new black F-150s parked randomly in pairs on the side of the highways... Check points basically.

They would watch us, and once they realized we are not rival gangsters, drug runners or other criminal types they went about their business.

Cartel guys are not looking to bring down heat by screwing with American fisherman... no money in that.

Go to Sugar if you want, not any more dangerous than fishing Bachman lake in Dallas and I do that all the time with no worries. Heck half the time I dont even take my pistol ha ha.

I would highly doubt that fishing bachman lake in dallas is more dangerous than fishing in mexico.

While I get that logic, it still doesn't mean you are safe from driving into the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't think these guys go out looking to find fisherman to engage, but they certainly aren't going to stop shooting mid battle if a truck towing a bass boat pulls up. I think they are more likely to use the fisherman as cover against police bullets. Also, if you happen to pull up to some action, its not like there is an easy place to U-turn and GTFO on those roads.
